Adrienne's Secret Recipe Double Chocolate Brownies


3/4 cup unsifted flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
2 tablespoons water
3/4 cup sugar
1-12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
nuts (optional)
Melt butter with water, sugar and 1 cup chocolate chips. Add eggs, flour,
baking soda, vanilla and salt. Mix well and add the remaining cup of chocolate
chips and nuts (optional). Bake in a greased 9 inch square pan at 325 F for
approximately 30 minutes.

Interesting variations: I have substituted various things for the 2nd cup of
chocolate chips including white chocolate chips, Reese's pieces (peanut butter
chips), toffee chips, etc.

Note: If your oven is electric, keeping a pan of water in it will result in a
moister brownie. This is not necessary in a gas oven.
